Odaily reported that on-chain security analyst Specter posted on X that THORChain has remained out of normal operation for more than a month after halting all transactions in response to a security vulnerability incident. According to Specter, THORChain’s on-chain transaction activity is still completely stalled, with almost no transactions across the chain, and no clear timeline has been provided for a return to normal operations.
The halt raises questions over consistency in risk management
Specter noted that THORChain had not chosen to suspend trading during previous security incidents or suspicious fund movements. Even simple ETH-BTC routes continued to operate in those earlier situations. In this case, however, after THORChain itself became an affected party, the protocol fully stopped cross-chain transactions, leading the community to discuss whether its risk management approach has been applied consistently.
In the post, Specter urged community users to “stay clear-headed.” As of the time referenced in the report, THORChain had not restored full trading, on-chain activity remained close to a standstill, and the timing for a recovery of normal protocol operations was still unclear.
