Trezor and security chip designer Tropic Square have jointly disclosed a vulnerability in the TROPIC01 chip, which was discovered by Ledger’s security research arm, Ledger Donjon, during an independent audit. The companies stated unequivocally that the Trezor Safe 7 hardware wallet and the crypto assets stored within are not at risk due to the flaw.
The Safe 7 is Trezor’s latest hardware wallet, featuring the TROPIC01 secure chip. Ledger Donjon specializes in hardware wallet security testing, and this audit was part of routine scrutiny. Although the vulnerability exists at the chip level, Trezor’s overall security design effectively blocks any potential attack vector. The firm reassured users that their funds remain protected and no immediate action is required.
