Forbes also said that during a May trip to China, when Musk traveled with Trump and other business executives, the pair discussed Musk’s plans to build a new factory in the United States, family matters, and Musk’s plan to commit $100 million to help Republicans win the November election. Separately, Musk told The Economist last month that he had previously become “a little too involved in politics” and that, frankly, it “got a little out of hand.” During their earlier rupture, Musk had publicly criticized Trump administration policies, at one point called for Trump’s impeachment, then later deleted some of those posts and said he regretted some of his criticism.
