Venus Protocol has announced the launch of collateralized lending for tokenized stocks, known as bStocks, on BNB Chain. According to the announcement reported by ChainCatcher, users can now deposit on-chain U.S. stock assets including TSLAB, NVDAB and SPCXB into the Venus Core Pool as collateral. After depositing these assets, users can borrow assets such as USDT and USDC while keeping their exposure to the price movements of the underlying stock-linked assets and without selling their positions.

bStocks are added to the Venus Core Pool

The new function brings bStocks into the collateral and lending framework of Venus. By placing tokenized U.S. stock assets into the Venus Core Pool, users can use those assets as collateral and obtain borrowing capacity in assets including stablecoins. The announcement specifically names TSLAB, NVDAB and SPCXB as examples of supported on-chain U.S. stock assets, while USDT and USDC are listed among the assets that users can borrow.

This marks the first time Venus has supported tokenized stocks as collateral assets. Before the launch of bStocks, the Venus on-chain liquidity market already included assets such as BTC, ETH, BNB and stablecoins. With bStocks now live, tokenized stocks have formally joined the same on-chain liquidity market shared by those crypto assets and stablecoins.

Venus extends collateral support from XAUm to stock assets

Venus stated that, after supporting tokenized assets such as XAUm, it is further expanding the range of on-chain collateral to include stock assets. The newly launched feature allows tokenized stocks to participate in collateralized lending through the Venus Core Pool on BNB Chain, creating a lending connection between on-chain U.S. stock assets, existing crypto assets and stablecoins within the Venus system.

The launch continues Venus Protocol’s move to broaden the types of tokenized assets that can be used in its lending market. According to the announcement, the addition of bStocks as collateral is intended to promote deeper integration between RWA and DeFi, while giving on-chain U.S. stock assets a new collateral use case inside the Venus ecosystem.
