Odaily reported that, according to monitoring by on-chain analyst Ai Yi, address 0x770…399f2 purchased 112.86 WBTC on April 14. The average purchase price was $71,655, and the position was valued at about $8.08 million at the time. The purchase took place around what was described as the starting point of that market move, and the position later recorded more than $1 million in unrealized profit in mid-May.
Position closed in batches after giving back gains
The monitoring data shows that the address did not sell when the unrealized profit exceeded $1 million, but continued to hold the WBTC position. The address eventually cleared the position in batches on June 16 and again 7 hours before the report. The selling price was $64,723. Compared with the entry price of $71,655, the position’s asset value shrank by 10% over roughly two months of holding.
WBTC is a tokenized form of Bitcoin used on-chain, including in ecosystems such as Ethereum. This case focuses on one whale address and its full trade path: buying 112.86 WBTC, holding through a period of substantial unrealized profit, and later closing the position at a lower price. The initial position size was $8.08 million, and the final result recorded in the report was a 10% decline in the value of the holdings after the address did not take profit earlier.
