WeChat Pay has launched an AI-only card positioned as an independent small wallet separated from the user’s main wallet. The product is designed for AI Agent scenarios, including services such as Workbuddy, where an agent can initiate a spending process on behalf of the user within supported contexts.
The card does not give AI Agents direct access to the main wallet. Instead, it operates through an isolated balance structure. Even when an AI Agent starts a purchase or service request, every payment still requires manual confirmation from the user. In this setup, the agent can participate in the consumption flow, but the final payment step remains under user control.
According to the described test scope, the AI-only card currently fits standardized digital services such as paid content, API calls and subscription services. These services have clearer payment and delivery flows. More complex daily-life services, such as ordering milk tea, have not yet reached stable end-to-end fulfillment through this model, as they involve more steps across product selection, merchant processing and delivery execution.
