WeChat Pay has introduced an AI-dedicated card, described in the test guide as a separate small wallet isolated from the user’s main wallet. The card is designed to support purchases initiated in AI Agent scenarios, including Workbuddy. In this setup, the AI Agent can start a spending process, but the user remains involved in the payment step.
The key limitation is that every payment still requires manual confirmation. The AI-dedicated card does not allow an AI Agent to complete an unchecked deduction from the user’s funds. Instead, it provides a payment entry for specific AI Agent use cases while keeping final authorization in the hands of the user.
Based on the guide, the current use cases are mainly standardized digital services, such as paid content, API calls and subscription services. These services have clearer pricing and delivery processes. For more complex everyday services, such as ordering milk tea, the test information says the card is not yet able to reliably complete the full end-to-end process from request to fulfillment.
