WeChat Pay has introduced an AI-only card, according to the test guide focused on whether the era of “AI Shopping” has arrived. The card is positioned as an independent small wallet separated from the user’s main wallet. In supported AI Agent scenarios, including Workbuddy, users can use this dedicated card to initiate spending through an agent-based workflow.

The key limitation is that payment authorization remains manual. Even when an AI Agent starts a purchase flow, each payment still requires the user to confirm it by hand. In other words, the AI-only card provides a payment channel for agent scenarios, but it does not allow the agent to complete deductions without the user’s final approval.

Based on the described test scope, the card currently fits standardized digital services better than complex real-world services. Examples of supported use cases include paid content, API calls and subscription services. By contrast, more complicated life-service tasks, such as ordering milk tea, cannot yet be completed reliably from request to end-to-end fulfillment. The feature therefore brings WeChat Pay into AI Agent spending scenarios, while its usable range remains focused on clearer and more standardized digital service payments.
