WeChat Pay has launched an AI-dedicated card designed for AI Agent consumption scenarios. The card functions as a separate small wallet that is isolated from the user's main wallet, allowing spending requests to be initiated in environments such as Workbuddy. The setup is presented as part of an AI Shopping experience, but it does not allow an AI system to complete payments without user involvement.
According to the test description, each transaction still requires manual confirmation from the user. This makes the AI card a controlled payment tool rather than a fully autonomous checkout mechanism. The AI Agent can participate in the initiation of a purchase, while the final payment step remains subject to user approval.
At the current stage, the card is limited to standardized digital services, including paid content, API calls, and subscription services. These categories have clearer transaction flows and more defined delivery results. More complex daily-life services, such as ordering milk tea, still cannot be completed reliably through an end-to-end process. In practice, WeChat Pay's AI card shows that AI Shopping has entered a payment testing phase, while its usable scope remains centered on structured digital consumption.
