According to a report by Odaily Planet Daily, on-chain monitoring tool Lookonchain identified a dormant Ethereum address that suddenly sprang into action after more than five years of inactivity. The address recently deposited 86,481 ETH into the exchange Bitfinex, with the transaction valued at approximately $171.57 million at the time of transfer.

Lookonchain further indicated that this transfer is likely just an internal wallet shuffling among Bitfinex's own addresses, rather than a whale movement initiated by an external entity. Despite being an internal reallocation, a single transaction of over 86,000 ETH still attracted considerable attention within the crypto community, as large inflows to exchanges are often interpreted as potential signals for sell-offs or liquidity shifts.

It is worth noting that internal transfers between hot and cold wallets are routine for exchanges like Bitfinex, aimed at managing user assets and maintaining operational liquidity. The activation of this long-dormant address, therefore, may well be part of Bitfinex's standard fund management procedures rather than a market-moving event.
