BlockBeats reported on June 20 that, according to monitoring by on-chain analyst Ai Yi (@ai_9684xtpa), a whale address has fully exited a position of 112.86 WBTC. The address originally bought the WBTC on April 14, at the starting point of a market upswing, with an average purchase price of $71,655. Based on that entry price, the position was valued at about $8.08 million at the time of purchase.
Unrealized Profit Was Not Locked In
The position once carried more than $1 million in unrealized gains in mid-May, but the whale did not sell at that stage. The address later completed the exit in batches, with sales taking place on June 16 and again seven hours before the report. The average selling price was $64,723.
Based on the reported entry and exit prices, the two-month holding period ended with the position shrinking by 10%, resulting in a loss of $782,000. The transaction shows how a large on-chain position that had previously recorded substantial unrealized profit can still close at a loss when the asset is not sold before prices move lower.
