World has launched Minikit 2.0, a new toolkit that lets developers turn existing web apps into Mini Apps with as little as two lines of code while remaining compatible with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard. The upgrade is now live on World Chain and is designed to standardize development across the ecosystem with a build-once, deploy-everywhere approach.
Toolkit focuses on migration from web apps to Mini Apps
According to the announcement, Minikit 2.0 is meant to reduce the amount of work needed to move applications into the World ecosystem. Teams can take standalone web products and expand them into full World Chain applications without changing their core logic. That shortens the path for developers that already have working apps and want to distribute them through World App.
By aligning with Ethereum’s EIP-1193 standard, World says the toolkit brings a more uniform development model across wallet and app interactions. The stated goal is to remove friction on both the developer side and the user side, while making deployment across web and World App environments more consistent.
Mini App usage rises as confirmation times drop to 200 milliseconds
World said Mini Apps logged more than 12.1 million opens in one week and have now passed 2.2 billion all-time opens. At the same time, the company introduced several infrastructure changes aimed at handling that level of activity more smoothly.
One of the main changes comes through the integration of Flashblocks. World said transaction confirmation times fell from 2 seconds to just 200 milliseconds. That matters most for use cases such as gaming and high-frequency trading, where slower confirmation can disrupt the experience inside the app.
World also added gas sponsorship through partnerships with Privy and Zerodev. Developers can pay transaction fees on behalf of users, removing the need for newcomers to bridge assets first or keep balances in their wallets. The company also said support has been expanded for a broader range of local stablecoins, part of an effort to make World Chain a hub for regional finance.
World Build 3 adds hackathon, incubation, and investor showcase
Alongside the toolkit release, World opened applications for World Build 3, the latest cohort of its developer program. The company said previous participants raised more than $15 million from venture capital firms while building on World’s proof-of-human infrastructure.
The third cohort begins with a four-day hackathon carrying a $20,000 prize pool. After that, selected teams move into an in-person sprint in Seoul, followed by a three-month incubation period focused on scaling applications. The program ends with a final investor showcase in San Francisco.
World plans Minikit 2.0 showcase at EthCC
World said it will demonstrate Minikit 2.0 and the broader World Chain ecosystem at EthCC. With the upgrade now live, the company says the entry barrier to building inside World App has been reduced, allowing teams to move from standalone web versions to full World Chain applications without rewriting the logic that already powers their products.
