xAI has released the beta version of Voice Agent Builder, a no-code platform for enterprise AI voice agents with 2-minute setup, voice cloning, telephony integration, and benchmark results that the company says beat OpenAI and Gemini.

xAI has released the beta version of Voice Agent Builder, a product aimed at enterprise call flows such as customer support, sales, and appointment handling. The company says users can build a production-ready AI voice agent in under two minutes using natural language prompts, without writing code.

The product centers on an end-to-end Speech-to-Speech architecture tied closely to Grok Voice. xAI positions this as an alternative to the common multi-vendor stack that combines speech-to-text, an LLM, and text-to-speech. In its description, that older setup adds latency, raises error rates, and increases operating costs. xAI says its single voice path is trained on difficult real-world call scenarios, including poor phone audio, strong accents, interruptions, and cases where a caller changes intent halfway through a sentence. The system natively supports more than 25 languages.

xAI cites benchmark lead over OpenAI and Google

According to xAI, Grok Voice Think Fast 1.0 ranked ahead of Google’s Gemini 3.1 Flash Live and OpenAI’s GPT Realtime 1.5 in the latest τ-voice Bench results, with higher responsiveness and reasoning performance. The company is using that benchmark as a central proof point for moving Grok Voice into enterprise production use.

The target customer is not limited to experimentation. xAI is pitching the builder for high-volume calling operations where reliability, speed, and fast deployment matter.

Knowledge base, tool connections and telephony in one product

Voice Agent Builder bundles several layers that companies often piece together separately. Its knowledge base supports uploads in Word, Excel, PDF, and JSON formats, with shared collections that can be reused across multiple agents. On the connector side, the platform includes Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, web search, X search, and Notion. It also supports handing a call off to a human agent, ending calls, and sending real-time team notifications.

For voice options, xAI says the platform includes 80+ built-in voices and supports brand voice cloning. The company says a custom voice can be created from two minutes of audio. On the telephony layer, users can obtain a phone number at no charge or connect their existing phone system through SIP.

Pricing starts at $0.05 per minute with monitoring controls

xAI lists compute pricing at $0.05 per minute with no extra platform fee. If a user relies on a phone number provided by xAI, telephony adds $0.01 per minute. Pricing is presented as a transparent part of the product package rather than a separate enterprise negotiation point.

The company also built in observability and guardrails for business use. Each call is recorded automatically and transcribed, while administrators can review which tools the AI used during the conversation. They can also set strict boundaries, such as blocking the agent from reading out a customer’s credit card number or steering into unrelated political discussion.

Voice Agent Builder is now available for testing through xAI Console. In its announcement, xAI urged developers and businesses to judge the system by placing calls through difficult workflows rather than relying only on benchmark charts.
