XRP Ledger’s latest software release, version 3.3.0, includes a set of upgrade proposals led by Confidential Transfers, a feature designed to give institutional users stronger privacy on-chain. The proposal would encrypt token balances and transfer amounts while keeping account identities and token types visible. It is aimed mainly at Multi-Purpose Tokens, or MPTs, and use cases tied to tokenized financial assets such as funds and bonds. CoinDesk reported that XRPL currently holds about $1.38 billion in on-chain real-world assets. That total includes roughly $845.7 million in RLUSD. Beyond RLUSD, more than $530 million in tokenized assets on XRPL have been issued by groups including Ondo, VERT Capital, Archax, and Societe Generale. The 3.3.0 release also includes five proposals in total, with Batch, Sponsor, Permission Delegation, and Dynamic MPT named among them. Those changes target institutional needs such as batch transactions, fee sponsorship, permission management, and dynamic token attribute adjustments. None of the upgrades are live yet. They still need support from more than 80% of XRPL trusted validators for two straight weeks before activation.

XRP Ledger’s newest software release, version 3.3.0, brings in several upgrade proposals. One of them is Confidential Transfers, a feature meant to give institutional users tighter privacy protections. It would allow token balances and transfer amounts to be encrypted, while account visibility and token type visibility stay intact.

This feature is aimed mostly at Multi-Purpose Tokens, or MPTs, on XRPL. The main use cases are tokenized financial assets like funds and bonds. With cryptographic tools such as zero-knowledge proofs, the network can confirm a transaction is valid without revealing the exact amount involved.

According to CoinDesk, XRPL now holds about $1.38 billion in on-chain real-world assets, or RWA. That total includes roughly $845.7 million in RLUSD. Strip out RLUSD, and more than $530 million in tokenized assets on XRPL involve issuers such as Ondo, VERT Capital, Archax, and Societe Generale.

But Confidential Transfers is not the only change in XRPL 3.3.0. The release includes five proposals in total: Batch, Sponsor, Permission Delegation, and Dynamic MPT as well. Those are geared toward institutional needs such as batch transactions, fee sponsorship, permission management, and dynamic adjustment of token attributes.

None of these upgrades are live yet. They can be activated only after getting support from more than 80% of XRPL trusted validators for two straight weeks. So the market is watching to see whether institutions that have already issued assets on XRPL, including Aviva and Ondo, decide to use the privacy feature.
