According to TechFlow, citing Cointelegraph on June 13, Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox said that a security audit of the Zcash protocol found no new critical vulnerabilities. The review was commissioned by Shielded Labs and conducted using Anthropic’s Mythos AI model. The main result disclosed in the report is that the audit did not identify any newly discovered severe issue in the Zcash protocol.

The update follows an earlier security incident involving the Orchard shielded pool. Security researcher Taylor Hornby used Claude Opus 4.8 to find a forgery vulnerability that had existed in Orchard for four years. After the issue was identified, developers urgently paused Orchard transactions on June 3 and completed the fix on the same day.

The Zcash Foundation confirmed that there was no evidence showing the vulnerability had ever been exploited, and said user privacy was not affected. Wilcox’s statement about the Anthropic Mythos AI audit adds a separate update to the review of Zcash protocol security, with the reported conclusion that no new critical vulnerabilities were found.
