According to TechFlow, citing Cointelegraph on June 13, Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox said that a security audit of the Zcash protocol found no new severe vulnerabilities. The audit was commissioned by Shielded Labs and conducted using Anthropic’s Mythos AI model.

Orchard flaw was paused and fixed on June 3

The latest disclosure follows an earlier security incident involving the Orchard shielded pool. Security researcher Taylor Hornby used Claude Opus 4.8 to identify a four-year-old forgery vulnerability in Orchard. After the issue was found, developers urgently paused Orchard transactions on June 3 and completed the fix on the same day.

The Zcash Foundation confirmed that there was no evidence the vulnerability had been exploited and that user privacy was not affected. The Mythos AI audit’s finding that no new severe vulnerabilities were discovered is the latest public update on the protocol’s security status after the Orchard issue was repaired.
