Coinbase Gets Conditional OCC Approval, Pushes National Trust Charter Forward

Coinbase received conditional approval from the OCC to form a federal trust entity for digital asset custody. The move could replace the current state-by-state regulatory patchwork with a single federal rulebook, mainly benefiting institutional clients. Final launch still awaits a pre-opening OCC exam and other conditions.

Andrew Tate’s DADDY memecoin trades 97% below peak as UK extradition case advances in Miami

Andrew Tate’s Solana-linked memecoin DADDY was trading around $0.008 on Thursday, down 97% from its 2024 peak of $0.29, according to Protos. The drop came as Tate and his brother Tristan remained in custody at Miami’s Federal Detention Center after US Marshals arrested them on Saturday on a sealed warrant tied to UK extradition proceedings. The brothers were detained outside Miami’s James L. Knight Center while heading to a boxing event Andrew Tate was scheduled to co-host. The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service has authorized 38 additional charges involving four more alleged victims, bringing the total to seven. Andrew Tate faces seven new counts tied to rape, trafficking, assault, child sex-abuse images, and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces two rape counts, one sexual assault count, and three trafficking counts. A court hearing took place Monday before Judge Lauren Louis, with another set for July 27. Protos also said DADDY lost more than a quarter of its value in the two days after the arrest and 50% over the past week, leaving its market capitalization below $5 million. Bubblemaps previously found that the token’s deployer sent 40% of total supply to Tate’s wallet.

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon backs U.S. digital asset market structure bill

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon said he supports the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, according to Techub News, a sign that some large Wall Street institutions may be willing to accept a compromise approach to U.S. crypto regulation. The report said the banking industry broadly remains concerned that the bill’s stablecoin provisions could divert deposits away from banks, but support from Solomon shows that not every major financial firm is opposing the proposal. The legislation is designed to establish a regulatory framework for crypto assets and intermediaries in the United States. Techub, citing CryptoBriefing, said market expectations that the bill could be signed into law in 2026 have risen. The report also said observers are closely watching comments from President Trump and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott, both seen as key political figures in the bill’s path forward.
