Semi Analysis flags V5 Technologies as an early CoPoS inspection play in advanced packaging

Semi Analysis said V5 Technologies has emerged as one of the main beneficiaries in the CoWoS supply chain and has already moved into Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s next-generation CoPoS process. The report argues that rising packaging density in AI chips is turning yield control into a central issue for TSMC and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test providers, sharply lifting demand for optical inspection tools. According to the report, V5 Technologies’ V530 Pro platform uses in-house AI image recognition algorithms and high-speed imaging hardware to detect surface defects in advanced packaging, including contamination, scratches and process residue. The company posted about NT$2.08 billion in consolidated revenue in 2025, up 188% year over year, while earnings per share reached NT$14.04, a record high. Monthly revenue in the first half of 2026 continued to hit new highs as customers expanded CoWoS, 3D packaging and panel-level packaging capacity. Semi Analysis also identified CoPoS as V5 Technologies’ next growth engine. The company has launched four CoPoS machine models, compared with two for CoWoS, and estimates total inspection demand for CoPoS at roughly twice that of CoWoS. Its demo systems are already undergoing customer testing, with three panel-level packaging customers in talks. V5 expects customer qualification as early as the fourth quarter of 2026 and volume shipments in 2027.

Goldman Sachs says Asia-Pacific earnings jumped 135% in Q2 while valuations sit near decade lows

Goldman Sachs said in its Aug. 21 Asia-Pacific weekly report that the MSCI Asia Pacific ex-Japan index, referred to in the note as MXAPJ, rose 1% over the week to 891, while Hong Kong stocks gained 4%, offshore China rose 3%, and Taiwan fell 2%. The bank set a 12-month target of 1,080 for MXAPJ, implying 21% upside and roughly 24% total return including dividends. The report argued that earnings growth is the main support for any valuation recovery: with 84% of MXAPJ companies having reported second-quarter results, net profit rose 135% year over year and 52% quarter over quarter, while 46% beat expectations and the median earnings surprise was 4.3%. Information technology led the region with earnings up 390% from a year earlier. At the same time, Goldman’s prime brokerage data showed hedge fund leverage pulling back sharply. Since August, gross leverage for Asia fundamental long-short funds fell 14.5 percentage points to 181%, the lowest level in more than a year. Net leverage held at 59.3%. The bank also said MSCI’s Aug. 31 index rebalance could trigger about $42 billion in two-way passive flows across Asia-Pacific benchmarks and related non-core indexes. Goldman listed rising long-end U.S. Treasury yields, geopolitical risks, and a weaker-than-expected China recovery as the main downside risks.

Base ecosystem token POD jumps 23.7% as market cap tops $264 million

POD, a Base ecosystem token linked to dphn.ai, posted a sharp rebound on Aug. 23, rising 23.7% on the day, according to GMGN tracking data. Its gains over the past three days exceeded 45%, pushing its market capitalization above $264 million. The move came a day after Coinbase added BASECAT, DRB, POD, and GRASS to its asset listing roadmap. The update put fresh attention on several Base-related tokens, with POD recording one of the more notable moves in the group. BlockBeats said token prices remain highly volatile and warned users to be cautious when making investment decisions.

Coinbase Adds Five Assets to Its Listing Roadmap

Coinbase said on its official website that it has updated its asset listing roadmap and added Cluster Protocol (CP), Basecat (BASECAT), DebtReliefBot (DRB), Dolphin (POD) and Grass (GRASS). CP, BASECAT, DRB and POD are Base chain assets, while GRASS is a Solana network asset. Coinbase said being placed on the roadmap does not mean trading is already live. The assets must still meet market-making support and technical infrastructure requirements before trading can begin.

CZ says illicit activity rate in crypto is about 100 times lower than in traditional finance

Changpeng Zhao said in an interview at the ASEAN Tech Summit that the crypto industry has long faced criticism over illicit transactions, but argued that the data points to a different picture. Citing figures referenced in the interview, Zhao said the rate of illegal activity in crypto is about 100 times lower than in traditional finance. He also said the sector’s transparency and traceability help law enforcement and make it easier to combat crime. The remarks were carried by Techub News and attributed to information shared by WuBlockchain. The comments center on a familiar debate around whether blockchain-based financial systems create more room for abuse or offer clearer audit trails than legacy financial rails.

NVIDIA’s Feynman platform is said to target TSMC A16 and large-scale CPO deployment in 2028

NVIDIA has already moved into development and supply-chain planning for Feynman, the AI accelerator platform expected to follow Rubin, according to a Digitimes report cited by ABMedia. The report says Feynman is set to use TSMC’s upgraded A16 process, pair it with custom HBM, and adopt both SoIC 3D stacking and co-packaged optics, or CPO, at scale, with volume production targeted for the second half of 2028. What makes the platform notable is the simultaneous push across three technical layers: process technology, advanced packaging, and optical interconnect. Supply-chain data cited in the report shows NVLink bandwidth rising from about 130 TB/s in Blackwell NVL72 racks to 260 TB/s in Rubin, 520 TB/s in Rubin Ultra, and more than 1,000 TB/s in Feynman. At that level, copper links are approaching practical limits in distance, power, signal loss, and thermal management, making optical interconnect a more direct fit for large AI clusters. The same report says TSMC is expanding advanced packaging capacity from AP5 and AP6 into AP7 and AP8, while repeatedly lifting SoIC monthly capacity targets from 20,000 wafers by the end of 2026 to 50,000 by the end of 2027. It also places Feynman inside NVIDIA’s wider capital and supply strategy, including more than $40 billion invested across the AI ecosystem since 2026 and a financing platform with Apollo, BlackRock, Blackstone, and Goldman Sachs aimed at mobilizing $500 billion in third-party capital.
