Megapot to shut official app on Dec. 1 while keeping protocol live on-chain

On-chain lottery protocol Megapot said it will shut down its official megapot.io app and Telegram app on Dec. 1, while shifting its focus to Prizerail, an enterprise giveaway platform that operates independently from the protocol. The team said the protocol itself will remain unchanged, fully on-chain and permissionless, and that apps or tokens built on top of it can continue to operate. Megapot said ticket sales on its website and Telegram mini app stopped on Oct. 29. Its liquidity supporter program, signup rewards, referral rewards and guaranteed prizes have ended, while the points program has been paused. Existing prizes remain claimable, and users can currently withdraw balances without identity verification. After Dec. 1, on-chain lottery prizes and referral fees will still be claimable through Basescan or third-party apps. Guaranteed prizes, which Megapot described as an off-chain program, must be claimed before that date. The team also said users who signed in with email, X or Telegram need to withdraw funds before Dec. 1, while self-custody wallet users will retain ownership of their tickets and prizes. Explaining the shift, Megapot said most protocol volume now comes from apps using lottery mechanics as rewards for deposits, trading and referrals. It added that 19 of 20 leads generated after a Singapore roadshow chose Prizerail over Megapot.
