Former X product chief says trade buttons are coming to crypto charts, but X has not confirmed it

Nikita Bier, who led product at X for 13 months until Aug. 5 and now remains an adviser, said trade buttons are on the way for crypto charts embedded in X posts. He did not give a launch date, and the statement has not been backed by any public post from X or X Money. The remark matters because nearly all public information tied to X’s crypto product efforts has come from Bier’s personal account, not from the company’s official channels. That includes the launch of Cashtags, its described scope, product framing and the only trading-volume figure that has been publicly cited. X has no help-center page for Cashtags, and X Money’s product site does not mention crypto, bitcoin, trading, brokerage or cashtags. Bier has also made a broader claim before and later narrowed it. In February, he initially said Smart Cashtags would let users trade stocks and crypto directly from the timeline, then corrected himself hours later, saying X would not execute trades or act as a brokerage and was only building financial data tools and links. That distinction remains central now: a button that routes orders to an external broker would fit that explanation, while native execution on X would not. So far, no one at the company has publicly clarified which version is being built.

Blockchain Association Urges U.S. Regulators Not to Broaden Stablecoin KYC Rules

The Blockchain Association has asked U.S. federal regulators to keep stablecoin customer identification rules focused on direct relationships between issuers and their customers, arguing that pushing those requirements into peer-to-peer transfers would be unworkable and harmful to the sector. In an August 21 comment letter sent to FinCEN, the OCC, the Federal Reserve, the FDIC, and the NCUA, the group responded to proposed rules tied to the GENIUS Act, the law signed in June last year that set a framework for the legal issuance and use of dollar-pegged stablecoins in the United States. The association, led in this filing by CEO Summer K. Mersinger, backed regulators for excluding secondary transfers from Customer Identification Program obligations, while asking for clearer limits around wallet-to-wallet transfers, one-off redemptions, technology providers, and unrelated business lines. It also called for liability protections when issuers rely on regulated financial institutions to perform identity checks, support for digital identity tools and interoperable verification technology, and coordination with pending anti-money laundering and sanctions rules so issuers do not have to repeatedly rebuild compliance systems.

World Liberty Financial wins preliminary OCC approval for a national trust bank charter

World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture backed by the Trump family, has received preliminary conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for a national trust bank charter, according to Bloomberg. The company plans to establish World Liberty Trust Company. If it secures final approval, the entity would be able to issue and redeem the USD1 stablecoin directly, manage the token’s reserve assets, and provide digital asset custody services. The proposed trust company would not operate as a traditional commercial bank, meaning it would not be allowed to take FDIC-insured deposits or make conventional loans. Bloomberg also noted that the application comes as US regulators have sped up reviews of new bank charters. OCC data shows that 22 bank charter applications were approved during the first 19 months of Trump’s second term, more than the total approved over the previous five years, with several approvals involving fintech and digital asset companies.

Blockchain Association says ABA’s proposed edits could stall the Clarity Act before a key Senate vote

A procedural vote on the Clarity Act is set for Sept. 15 in the U.S. Senate, where the bill needs 60 votes to move to debate. At the same time, the American Bankers Association has argued for what it describes as limited changes to language that was already negotiated. That drew a sharp response from Blockchain Association CEO and former Commodity Futures Trading Commission commissioner Summer Mersinger, who said the proposed edits are not technical cleanups but substantive policy changes that could reopen talks and consume the little floor time left before the midterm-election legislative window narrows further. Mersinger specifically challenged two ABA-backed revisions: replacing the current standard with “substantially similar” and removing the word “solely.” She argued that both would materially broaden the scope of restrictions in ways Congress did not intend. She also pushed back on claims that stablecoin legislation could drain bank deposits, citing Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation data showing that U.S. domestic bank deposits rose in each quarter after GENIUS took effect, increasing by more than $800 billion across the first three full quarters. The dispute now turns on whether the Sept. 15 vote can clear 60 votes and whether the banking lobby continues pressing to reopen negotiations.

CZ backs tokenizing everything, says liquidity fragmentation can be fixed after broader on-chain adoption

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao said tokenization should be pushed across all blockchains, calling it one of the best ways for countries to raise capital or attract foreign direct investment. In a post on X on Aug. 21, Zhao argued that governments and companies would naturally want to sell tokenized shares to investors worldwide. He acknowledged that expanding tokenization across multiple chains would create liquidity fragmentation, but said that trade-off is worth accepting if it helps the sector grow faster through broader participation. Zhao pointed to BNB Chain data showing a sharp rise in real-world asset, or RWA, holders. According to the figures he cited, BNB Chain reached 776,429 RWA holders, up about 370% over 30 days, with $5.799 billion in total value excluding stablecoins. The same ranking placed Robinhood second by holder count at 518,442, though its total value was only $33.85 million, while Solana ranked third with 339,920 holders and $3.961 billion in value. The report also highlighted a deeper structural issue in tokenized stocks: assets remain split across separate custody and issuance systems, with limited interchangeability between issuers and chains. Zhao said improving fungibility between issuers is the next critical step.

CZ says tokenizing everything could help countries attract foreign capital

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, said on Aug. 21 that "everything" should be tokenized, arguing that tokenized assets could become an important tool for countries seeking to raise funds or attract foreign direct investment. In a social media post cited by BlockBeats, CZ said governments and companies both want to sell tokenized stocks to global investors, which he sees as one of the clearest paths for tokenization to scale. CZ also said he supports pushing tokenization across all blockchains. While acknowledging that a multi-chain setup can create liquidity fragmentation, he said that approach may still be the fastest way to expand the tokenization market because multiple participants can help move the sector forward at the same time. He added that stronger interchangeability across issuers could ease some of the fragmentation, making interoperability a key factor in the market’s future development. Earlier, BNB Chain said the number of RWA holders on its network had reached 776,000, up about 370% over the past 30 days, putting it among the leaders in the sector.

CZ says tokenization is one of the best ways for countries to attract foreign capital

Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, said in a post on X that he supports putting "everything" on-chain through tokenization. He described tokenization as one of the best ways for countries to raise funds or attract foreign direct investment, arguing that governments and companies would naturally want to sell tokenized shares to a global investor base. Zhao also said he supports tokenization across all blockchains rather than limiting issuance to a single network. At the same time, he acknowledged that such an approach could create fragmented liquidity. Even so, he said this remains one of the fastest ways to grow the industry because it allows multiple participants to push adoption at the same time. Zhao added that the fragmentation problem could be eased to some extent if assets issued by different issuers become highly fungible with one another.

CZ backs tokenizing assets across all blockchains, says it can help countries attract FDI

Changpeng Zhao, widely known as CZ, said in a post on X that tokenization is one of the best ways for countries to raise capital or attract foreign direct investment. He urged the market to 「tokenize everything」 and said both countries and companies could sell tokenized stocks to buyers around the world. CZ also said he supports tokenization on all blockchains. At the same time, he noted that such an approach creates liquidity fragmentation. In his view, that issue could be eased to some extent if assets issued by different parties become highly fungible with one another. He also reposted data from BNB Chain showing that the number of RWA holders on the network has reached 776,000, up about 370% over the past 30 days. The remarks tie the broader tokenization discussion to recent on-chain growth figures cited from the BNB Chain ecosystem.
