BTQ Technologies has launched Bitcoin Quantum, a permissionless fork testnet that replaces ECDSA with ML-DSA and increases block size to 64 MiB. The clean-slate fork aims to provide a testing ground for quantum resistance without affecting the Bitcoin mainnet.

Solana and Project Eleven tested a post-quantum setup using ML-DSA on testnet. Signature sizes rose from 64 bytes to roughly 1,300-2,500 bytes, while network throughput fell by about 90%.

TRON has enabled quantum-resistant signatures on the Nile testnet, starting with FN DSA 512. The feature was approved under Proposal 20628, while any mainnet launch still depends on more approvals and infrastructure upgrades.

IOSG points to a 5 to 8 year “engineering comfort window” before quantum risk becomes much harder to manage, even though broader Q-Day estimates remain centered around 2035 to 2045, with faster scenarios falling in the 2030 to 2035 range.
