Nvidia2026-10-12 02:43:50Report says Nvidia may end RTX 5090 production as RTX 5080 24GB is tipped as a gamer alternativeA new report from Wccftech says Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 may be nearing the end of its lifecycle, with future supplies of the GB202 chip potentially reserved for RTX PRO workstation cards. The claim is based on posts from X users @Zed_Wang and @hongxing2020, one saying future GB202 supply will be "RTX Pro exclusive" and the other saying the RTX 5090 has reached EOL while an RTX 5080 24GB is ready. Nvidia has not publicly confirmed either claim. GB202 is the flagship Blackwell chip now used in the 32GB RTX 5090 and several professional products, including the 96GB RTX PRO 6000, 84GB RTX PRO 5500, and 48GB and 72GB RTX PRO 5000. Wccftech said rising DRAM prices, strong AI demand, and the higher margins available on professional cards may explain why Nvidia would prioritize RTX PRO supply. The report also says the rumored RTX 5080 24GB could emerge as the stopgap option for gamers. It may carry specs similar to the previously rumored RTX 5080 SUPER and use 3GB GDDR7 memory modules instead of the 2GB modules in the current 16GB version. Wccftech estimated a possible price range of $1,999 to $2,999, while stressing that a 24GB RTX 5080 would not be a direct replacement for the RTX 5090.250
Nvidia2026-10-10 08:46:25Rumor says Nvidia may end RTX 5090 production and shift GB202 supply to RTX PRO cardsNvidia may be preparing to stop production of its flagship consumer graphics card, the RTX 5090, according to claims circulating from hardware leakers. One of them, MEGAsizeGPU, said future output of the GB202 chip will be reserved بالكامل for the RTX PRO lineup rather than the RTX 5090. A separate post from hongxing2020 included what was described as a factory notice indicating that a China-specific version is also within the reported discontinuation scope. The report highlights a large pricing gap between products built on the same GB202 family. The RTX 5090 launched with 32GB of memory at $1,999, while the RTX PRO 6000, aimed at AI development, design, and rendering workloads, comes with 96GB of memory and is listed on Nvidia’s website at $16,000. The piece notes that price does not directly equal profit, but the professional segment offers Nvidia much more room for revenue. The RTX 5090 has already seen notable shortages in the U.S. market, with some third-party sellers listing the card at as much as $9,600. If the production halt is real, remaining inventory could become the only source for buyers. Another leak also said Nvidia is preparing a 24GB version of the RTX 5080 to replace the RTX 5090 as the top GeForce gaming card.300
