Hyperliquid OI Adds $765 Million Ahead of CPI as New Leverage Tilts Toward Crypto and Tech

Open interest on Hyperliquid climbed back to roughly $11.325 billion ahead of the U.S. July CPI release, up about $765 million over four days from around $10.56 billion on Monday, according to TradingBeats, formerly Hyperinsight. Crypto markets accounted for about $583 million of that increase, while HIP-3 markets added about $183 million. Over the past 24 hours, new leverage was concentrated in crypto majors and large-cap tech names. ETH rose 0.7% with OI up about $86.51 million, while BTC slipped 0.5% and still saw OI increase by about $39.52 million, even as their combined trading volume fell about 11%. In equities, PLTR gained just 0.4% but posted a roughly $29.47 million jump in OI, META added 0.9% with OI up about $23.8 million, and GOOGL fell 3.1% while OI still expanded by about $18.12 million. Storage names moved differently. SKHX, MU, and SNDK rose about 5.9%, 1.5%, and 4.5%, respectively, yet their combined OI fell about $45.71 million, with both large long and short positions pulling back. TradingBeats said the figures reflect only observable OI and trackable addresses on Hyperliquid and do not represent full-market positioning.

Bitget UEX Daily: Berkshire turns net buyer, boosts Alphabet stake; SpaceX extends rally after lockup release

A weaker-than-expected U.S. July payroll report set the tone across markets in Bitget UEX’s latest daily note. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 23,000 versus expectations for an increase of about 90,000, while the unemployment rate dropped to 4.1%. The report said traders quickly scaled back September rate-hike expectations, sending Treasury yields lower and lifting demand for both risk assets and gold. Spot gold briefly pushed through the $4,400 level, while crude held at elevated levels, with WTI in the $78-$79 range and Brent in the $83-$84 range. The note also highlighted Berkshire Hathaway’s second-quarter results as a major macro signal. Operating profit rose 16% year over year to $12.98 billion, net profit doubled, and Berkshire ended a 14-quarter streak of net stock selling by buying nearly $20 billion in equities during the quarter. Its larger position in Alphabet moved the company into Berkshire’s top five holdings. Berkshire also repurchased about $4.5 billion of stock, with cash falling to roughly $365.5 billion. In crypto, BTC held near $64,900, ETH traded around $1,914.5, and total crypto market capitalization stood near $2.28 trillion. The report said spot Bitcoin ETFs logged a fifth straight day of net inflows as of last Friday, with daily inflows topping $100 million. It also noted that SpaceX (SPCX.US) rose sharply for a second straight session after the first batch of restricted shares was unlocked without the large-scale selling many had feared.

Bitget UEX daily: Dow hits another record, gold nears $4,300, and SpaceX faces first major lockup expiry

Bitget UEX’s Aug. 6 market note tracked a session defined by sharp cross-asset divergence. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at another record high, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 retreated, reflecting continued separation inside U.S. equities. Spot gold climbed to about $4,283 an ounce and moved closer to the $4,300 mark as safe-haven demand and a softer dollar outweighed the effect of lower oil prices. In commodities, markets focused on developments around the Strait of Hormuz after Iran and Oman said they had agreed on geographic coordinates for a new commercial shipping route, though Tehran stressed that this did not mean an immediate return to safe passage. In crypto, BTC traded around $64,100 and ETH around $1,909, with total market capitalization at roughly $2.29 trillion. Bitcoin spot ETFs posted a net inflow of $212 million the previous day and a dynamic net inflow of $47 million on the day, while total liquidations over 24 hours reached about $252 million. The report also highlighted growing attention on SpaceX, which is set for its first large-scale post-listing share unlock, and on U.S. macro data including jobless claims and nonfarm payrolls. Among single names, SanDisk fell in after-hours trading despite strong quarterly results because guidance missed elevated expectations, Nvidia rose after SpaceX said future AI services would run exclusively on its Vera Rubin architecture, and Alphabet dropped following a major AI leadership reshuffle.
