MoonPay rolls out PayBox to bring crypto wallets and card payments into Claude, ChatGPT and Grok

MoonPay has launched PayBox, a payment vault designed for AI agents that lets users connect wallets and payment cards to assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and, later, Grok. The product went live on July 29 at paybox.sh and is built to keep transactions inside the chat interface, so users can research, compare and authorize purchases without jumping to a separate checkout page. According to MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright, the goal is to let agents hold payment credentials and crypto wallets while preventing any single party from controlling private keys. PayBox supports both card and onchain transactions. MoonPay said agents can initiate card payments without seeing raw card numbers, while crypto wallets can be created or imported and funded either from an existing wallet or through card on-ramps after a one-time identity check. The product launched with support for Solana and several EVM-compatible networks, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo and Robinhood Chain. It also integrates x402, the machine-payment standard originally open-sourced by Coinbase and now governed by the Linux Foundation-backed x402 Foundation. MoonPay said PayBox reached 224,000 signups one day after launch, though that figure was disclosed by the company itself and has not been independently verified. The firm frames PayBox as a non-custodial system built on MPC and TEE infrastructure, partly inherited from its roughly $100 million all-stock acquisition of Israeli key-management company Sodot in April.

Ethena launches USDe payments app with up to 6% annualized rewards

Ethena has launched Ethena Pay, a self-custodial money app built around USDe that is designed for everyday payments, savings and cross-border transfers. The beta spans 48 countries across Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and other regions, but access is limited to 400 users at first and will expand weekly. Avalanche will be the exclusive settlement layer, while MoonPay-owned Iron supplies backend infrastructure. Users can deposit fiat or crypto, which is converted into USDe, hold a dollar-denominated balance, earn up to 6% in annualized rewards and spend through a payment card. The app also supports IBAN-based transfers to and from external bank accounts into local currencies. Ethena says the service is not initially available in the US, EU, Canada, Taiwan or South Korea, though it expects to expand there during the beta if regulators approve. The launch lands as USDe’s market cap has climbed to about $4.1 billion, making it the sixth-largest stablecoin, while ENA has risen sharply over the past month and remained volatile after a proposal to direct 95% of certain net revenue toward buybacks once USDe circulation reaches 7.5 billion.

Gemini, MoonPay, the Dallas Fed and BIS point to the same shift in agentic finance

A series of developments across enterprise AI, crypto lending, banking research and payment infrastructure is starting to sketch a shared direction for finance. On Aug. 25, Google Cloud rolled out Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, pushing AI deeper into workflows such as KYC, credit analysis, portfolio monitoring, bond issuance and financial research. Two days later, MoonPay said it had connected PayBox to Kamino on Solana, letting users initiate lending and access yield through interfaces such as Claude and ChatGPT. Around the same time, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas published research on what happens to deposit stickiness if deposits can move in real time and AI can automatically compare yields for households and businesses. BIS also referenced Project Agorá, which recently completed a real-money test tied to tokenized deposits and central bank money. Taken together, these events suggest the key threshold for AI in finance is not simply whether models understand finance better. The bigger question is when they are allowed to make bounded financial decisions on a user’s behalf and actually move money. The article argues that the market is not jumping straight from manual finance to fully autonomous finance. Instead, it is building narrower forms of authorization, execution and auditability that let AI act within preset limits. That shift could eventually affect treasury operations, programmable money, deposit competition and the way banks defend customer relationships.

MoonPay adds Kamino to PayBox, letting eligible users access Solana lending through AI chat

MoonPay has integrated Solana lending protocol Kamino into its AI payments vault, PayBox, allowing eligible users to carry out token lending or collateralized borrowing on Solana by chatting with ChatGPT or Claude. The company did not launch a new lending product; instead, the integration replaces Kamino’s standard interface with natural-language instructions. Users can require passkey approval for every transaction or let AI act within preset limits. According to DefiLlama, Kamino has about $1.3 billion in total value locked and roughly $1 billion in active loans. MoonPay launched PayBox in July with support for payments, token swaps, cross-chain bridging, and yield access through Aave. By adding Kamino, PayBox is moving beyond AI payments into credit management. The setup also gives AI agents authority to manage user funds, meaning a single instruction can open a leveraged position, which may be liquidated if falling collateral value hits Kamino’s liquidation threshold. The service is not currently available to users in the U.S., UK, EU, or Australia.

Trust Wallet adds Cash App Pay for crypto purchases in the U.S.

Trust Wallet has partnered with U.S. payments platform Cash App to add Cash App Pay through MoonPay, giving eligible U.S. customers a new way to buy cryptocurrency directly with their Cash App balance. The integration removes the need to re-enter bank card details for each purchase, which Trust Wallet said is meant to make the checkout process faster and more familiar for users. To use the feature, customers must first make sure their Cash App account has sufficient funds. The name on the Cash App account also needs to match the name on the user’s MoonPay account. After linking the account once, users can confirm future payments more quickly during later transactions. The rollout is limited to eligible users in the United States, according to the announcement cited by Techub News.

Cash App Users Can Now Buy Ether, Solana and XRP Through MoonPay Checkout

MoonPay has added Cash App Pay as a checkout option, allowing eligible U.S. users to spend their Cash App balance on MoonPay and buy cryptocurrencies Block has not listed on Cash App. The supported assets include ether, Solana and XRP, and purchases can be sent to third-party and self-custody wallets such as Ledger, BitPay, Trust Wallet, MetaMask and Uniswap. Block’s global partnerships lead, Morgan Kuntze, said the company still sees bitcoin as the core of its digital asset strategy, but wants to give customers more choice and flexibility in how and where they pay. Cash App previously supported bitcoin only, then began a phased USDC rollout in late May. The MoonPay deal also fits into MoonPay’s broader U.S. expansion this year, which included adding Discover as a payment network and launching an enterprise stablecoin platform for banks and merchants. Cash App Pay gives MoonPay access to a funded wallet tied to tens of millions of U.S. users.

MoonPay adds Cash App Pay for crypto purchases by US customers

MoonPay has added Cash App Pay as a payment option for crypto purchases, giving eligible US customers another way to fund transactions with balances already held in the mobile payments app. The integration is available through MoonPay’s own checkout and selected partners, including Trust Wallet, MetaMask, Ledger, Uniswap and others. MoonPay said the move lets users buy crypto without switching apps or logging in again. The company now supports Cash App, PayPal and Venmo, after adding PayPal in 2024 and later expanding to Venmo. Cash App, operated by Block, already lets users buy and sell Bitcoin in-app and had 59 million active users in June, according to Block’s second-quarter shareholder report. MoonPay co-founder and CEO Ivan Soto-Wright said the integration gives tens of millions of Americans access to the digital asset ecosystem through an app they already know and trust. The company also noted its New York and EU regulatory authorizations, while continuing to expand beyond fiat-to-crypto onramps through acquisitions in 2026.
