Crypto.com can move ahead with single-stock futures in the US after Form 1-N filing

Crypto.com’s futures exchange gained registered national securities exchange status for security futures products as soon as it filed Form 1-N on Sept. 14, using a pathway that allows a Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated market to join the Securities and Exchange Commission’s registry without waiting for a commission vote. The SEC said in a Sept. 16 release that it had received the filing from North American Derivatives Exchange, or Nadex, the Crypto.com futures venue. CEO Kris Marszalek said Wednesday evening that the filing covers the company’s futures exchange through OG.com, the trader-focused platform Crypto.com is spinning off, and that the company is now authorized to bring single-stock futures to market. Nadex already had the futures-side infrastructure in place: it has been a CFTC-designated contract market since 2004, originally as HedgeStreet, and the CFTC amended its order in September 2025 to allow margined futures cleared through registered futures commission merchants. The SEC notice does not identify any product by name. It refers only to the statutory category of security futures products. It also says nothing about perpetual futures, launch timing, stock names, or leverage limits. Marszalek separately said Crypto.com is working with both the SEC and the CFTC to offer perpetual futures in the US. The report also notes that Coinbase Derivatives filed its own Form 1-N earlier this month, while Robinhood has started routing football event contracts to OG.com and agreed to take equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com after the spin-off closes.
