John Returns to Altcoins After Two Months, Citing UNI and Robinhood Chain as Early Bull-Market Signals
In a Sept. 4 episode of the Milk Road Show, Milk Road Pro portfolio manager John said he bought altcoins for the first time in more than two months, with Uniswap’s UNI becoming one of his largest positions after a gain of about 30% in roughly a week. He linked the latest crypto rebound to two forces: a macro catalyst tied to an expected $12 billion long-bond buyback by the U.S. Treasury around Sept. 9 alongside new short-term issuance, and a sharp burst of activity on the Robinhood chain, where meme tokens and tokenized equities are increasingly trading in the same ecosystem. John argued that Uniswap’s revised token economics, combined with record flow from Robinhood-chain meme assets and tokenized stocks into Uniswap v4, has created buyback pressure for UNI and changed the token’s investment case. Even so, he stopped short of calling this a confirmed bull market. He said the move could still turn into a bull trap, noted that he is still holding substantial cash, and pointed to several risks: a possible Federal Reserve rate hike, the chance that the Clarity Act fails to pass, and the historical weakness of Bitcoin during September in U.S. midterm election years.
