Stripe Acquires Wallet Infrastructure Startup Privy to Bolster Bitcoin Strategy – Second Major Digital Asset Deal After $1.1B Bridge Acquisition

On July 2, 2026, Stripe Inc. announced the acquisition of Privy, a provider of Bitcoin and crypto wallet infrastructure. This marks Stripe's second major digital asset-focused purchase this year, following its $1.1 billion acquisition of stablecoin firm Bridge. Privy helps companies embed Bitcoin and crypto wallets directly into apps and websites, powering over 75 million accounts and serving more than 1,000 developer teams processing billions in transaction volume. Clients include OpenSea, Hyperliquid, Blackbird, Toku, and Farcaster. Founded in 2021 by Henri Stern and Asta Li, Privy raised over $40 million from investors such as Ribbit Capital, Definition, and Coinbase Ventures, with a last valuation of $230 million. Post-acquisition, Privy will operate as a standalone product and integrate with Stripe's payment capabilities and Bridge's stablecoin infrastructure to enable next-generation global internet-native financial services.
