Altcoins2026-09-21 10:38:29Altcoin market cap climbs back above $800 billion, but altseason index stays at 41Altcoins are showing signs of a structural rebound, but the market still falls short of a confirmed altseason. According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, roughly 70% of altcoins listed on Binance have moved back above their 200-day moving average, the first time that has happened since October 2025. He also said Total3, which tracks the combined market capitalization of altcoins excluding Bitcoin and Ether, has reclaimed the $800 billion level for the first time in more than eight months and closed above its May high on a daily basis. At the same time, Bitcoin has remained stuck between $75,600 and $82,000, while altcoins accounted for 53% of trading activity on Binance. Even so, Blockchaincenter’s Altseason Index dropped to 41 on Sept. 20, still 34 points below the 75 threshold commonly used to confirm an altseason. The report said Bitcoin dominance stood at 59.34%, up 0.5% over three days, suggesting capital still favors BTC. Separately, analyst Ash Crypto said the ETH/BTC pair, near 0.03238, is breaking a downtrend line that has been in place since 2021, though the move is still too early to count as confirmation.480

Bitcoin2026-08-25 16:53:59Bitcoin Rallies 24% in a Week, Nears $79,000 as Ether Tops $2,500ChainCatcher said Bitcoin rose about 24% over the past week and came close to $79,000, marking its best performance since 2023. Ether gained about 30% in the same period and moved above $2,500. The Total3 index, which excludes Bitcoin and Ether, pulled back after an early jump and was around $753 billion. Bitcoin dominance briefly climbed to about 61% before easing to around 59%, near this year’s high. CoinMarketCap’s altcoin season index stood at 46, well below the 75 threshold that defines an altcoin season, suggesting most altcoins have lagged Bitcoin over the past 90 days. ChainCatcher attributed the move mainly to the U.S. Treasury’s decision to double long-term bond buybacks from $2 billion to $4 billion, a weaker dollar that pushed flows into Bitcoin as an inflation hedge, and President Donald Trump’s White House meeting with crypto executives as he pressed Congress to pass the Clarity Act. Bitget Wallet research analyst estimated that more than $4 billion in crypto shorts were liquidated within two to three days after Bitcoin broke above $70,000. If Bitcoin keeps moving above $80,000, the next range could open toward $82,000 to $87,000.960
