Trader adds to year-end BTC drop bets, keeps $2.25 million short position
A cross-market trader tracked by TradingBeats has continued to build bearish Bitcoin positions even as the broader market expects a pause in rate hikes in October. According to the monitoring data cited by BlockBeats on Oct. 14, the account "greater-fools" spent about $4,381 since yesterday to add two new prediction-market positions tied to downside BTC targets by year-end. One bet, on Bitcoin falling to $65,000 before the end of the year, added roughly 11,000 "Yes" shares for about $2,639, bringing the total position to about 136,100 shares with an implied probability of around 22.5% and a position value of about $30,600. The second, on BTC falling to $70,000 by year-end, added 4,510 "Yes" shares for about $1,742, lifting the total to about 55,800 shares with an implied probability of around 35.5% and a value of about $19,800. At the same time, the account still holds a 26.97 BTC short on Hyperliquid with a notional value of about $2.2528 million, an average entry price near $69,962, and an unrealized loss of about $365,200. The report added that the release of U.S. September CPI later today could weigh on BTC in the short term if inflation comes in above expectations and prompts a repricing of the tightening path.
