Bitcoin-Gold 90-Day Correlation Hits Record High as 30-Day Reading Reaches 0.8

Bitcoin’s correlation with gold has climbed to its highest level on record, according to the latest data cited from The Block Data & Insights, with the 90-day Pearson correlation setting a new all-time high and the 30-day reading rising to 0.8, its highest level this year. The report said the move reflects increasingly synchronized price action between BTC and gold. The article ties that pattern to what it describes as a “debasement trade,” arguing that investors are rotating into hard assets as concerns build around the depreciation of fiat currencies and government-backed assets. It also points to fund flows, noting that both gold ETFs and spot Bitcoin ETFs rank among the top 10 inflow products, while Bitcoin ETFs brought in nearly $1 billion last week and $1.89 billion year to date. BlackRock’s IBIT alone has attracted $1.2 billion so far this year. The report also draws historical parallels. Similar spikes in Bitcoin-gold correlation appeared in Q4 2020 and Q4 2022, followed by BTC gains of 172% and nearly 350%, respectively. Separately, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index has returned to 68, classified as “Greed,” though the article says current volatility still remains below levels typically seen in full-blown market bubbles.

KGI and DigiFT launch kTW50 on Ethereum as a tokenized Taiwan ETF product, but Taiwan investors are excluded

KGI Financial Holding said on Sept. 1 that its Hong Kong securities unit, KGI Asia, has partnered with Singapore-licensed real-world asset exchange DigiFT to launch kTW50, a token issued on Ethereum and linked to the KGI Taiwan TOP50 ETF (009816). The company described it as the world’s first on-chain RWA token tied to a Taiwan-listed ETF. The product comes with clear access limits. DigiFT’s product page says kTW50 has a $10,000 minimum subscription amount and is available only to accredited investors and institutional investors as defined under Singapore’s Securities and Futures Act. That means Taiwan-based retail investors cannot buy it. The token does not represent direct ownership of Taiwan stocks or of the ETF certificate itself. Instead, it represents beneficial rights in Class A shares of KGI Taiwan TOP 50 Feeder SP, an offshore fund that invests all or substantially all of its net asset value into 009816. DigiFT also said the token can be transferred around the clock between authorized holders on a whitelist, while the underlying listed security continues to trade only during Taiwan Stock Exchange hours. BlockTempo’s report added that some key details, including the contract address, custodian and redemption mechanism, have not yet been disclosed.

US July Job Openings Inch Up to 7.27 Million; Labor Demand Stable

US job openings edged up in July, signaling that labor demand has remained broadly stable in recent months, according to a report from Chinese crypto news outlet BlockBeats citing Jinshi. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Tuesday that openings rose to 7.27 million from a downwardly revised 7.18 million in June, coming in below economists' median estimate of 7.31 million. The report shows the US labor market remains in the low-hiring, low-firing pattern that has defined much of the past few years. Employers are cautious about expanding headcount with geopolitical uncertainty and persistent inflation in the background, but they are also reluctant to lay off workers. Job openings increased mainly in manufacturing, state and local government (excluding education), and health care and social assistance. Layoffs fell to their lowest level since January, while the quits rate — the share of workers leaving their jobs voluntarily each month — slipped to 1.9%.

WuBlockchain roundup: Pump.fun securities claims dismissed, Russia expands digital ruble rollout

A federal court in New York has dismissed securities-law claims tied to meme tokens in the Pump.fun class action and threw out all claims against Solana Labs, the Solana Foundation, and related executives, finding the tokens failed the "common enterprise" element of the Howey Test. The case is still moving forward on other fronts: claims against Pump.fun’s operating company and three founders, including RICO fraud and alleged unlicensed money transmission, were allowed to proceed into discovery. Elsewhere, Russia is entering a broader digital ruble rollout from Sept. 1, with systemically important banks and large merchants required to support payments first, while individuals remain free to opt in. Arkham researcher Emmett Gallic said addresses tied to the sanctioned North Korean hacking group Lazarus Group recently moved more than $30 million through Hyperliquid, with funds later bridged across multiple chains and sent to exchanges and untagged services. Strategy has also urged MSCI to withdraw a proposal that could exclude so-called non-operating companies from its global investable market indexes, while prediction market platform Kalshi imposed its first lifetime trading ban on former U.S. Representative George Santos and fined him more than $70,000 over alleged market manipulation.
