Funding Weekly: Kaiko raises $110 million as Crusoe closes $3.9 billion Series F

PANews’ weekly funding roundup showed that the blockchain sector recorded nine financing deals worldwide between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20, with disclosed funding topping $223 million. Stablecoin payments stood out as the busiest crypto segment of the week, with Velocity, dtcpay and Fin.com each securing fresh capital to build settlement, fiat on-and-off-ramp and banking backend infrastructure. Investors in those rounds included Visa, Circle, Ripple, Coinbase Ventures and SBI, pointing to continued capital flows beyond stablecoin issuance and into payment rails and compliance-heavy infrastructure. The largest checks, however, were written in AI infrastructure. Crypto data provider Kaiko expanded its latest round to $110 million with S&P Global leading, while AI compute infrastructure company Crusoe completed a $3.9 billion Series F at a post-money valuation of about $30.9 billion. Nvidia also committed $2 billion to Brookfield Asset Management’s global AI infrastructure fund. Elsewhere, the report covered funding across tokenized securities, RWA-backed finance, DePIN, AI chips, enterprise AI software, robotics and venture funds, showing how capital remained concentrated in infrastructure layers rather than consumer-facing narratives.

WuBlockchain weekly: Fed hikes 25 bps, CLARITY stalls, CoinEx shuts down

WuBlockchain’s weekly roundup focused on policy, regulation and institutional moves across crypto and traditional finance. The U.S. Federal Reserve raised its target range for the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00% in a unanimous 12-0 vote, while saying inflation remains elevated. In Washington, the CLARITY Act failed to advance in the U.S. Senate after falling short of the 60 votes needed to invoke cloture, with support not even reaching 50. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission also approved a temporary conditional “Innovation Exemption” that would let qualified tokenized securities venues pilot trading in tokenized NMS stocks under a limited framework. Outside the U.S., The Wall Street Journal reported that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde personally intervened in a process that would have given Binance a foothold in the EU through Greece. In the UK, the Financial Conduct Authority said banks will still be allowed to keep payment restrictions on crypto exchanges even after the new cryptoasset regime takes effect in 2027. The week also included major industry developments: CoinEx said it will wind down its exchange after nearly nine years and close withdrawals on Dec. 22; the New York Stock Exchange is said to be working toward 24/7 on-chain trading through an ATS platform; Column launched bank-native stablecoin infrastructure; Circle launched the Arc mainnet and minted 10 billion ARC tokens; and Deutsche Bank said it plans to roll out crypto custody later this year, pending final regulatory approval.

XRP nears a golden cross as traders rotate toward altcoins

XRP is close to triggering a golden cross, with its 50-day moving average sitting about 2% below the 200-day line, according to a Sept. 18 CoinDesk Daybook excerpt. The setup is drawing attention as bitcoin’s share of the total crypto market cap falls below 59% and traders shift toward altcoins. Historical data in the report shows that XRP’s prior 16 golden crosses all ended within 12 months, and six of them failed to last even three months. Still, short-term upside has been meaningful in some cases: among the 10 crosses that lasted at least three months, five produced gains ranging from 85% to more than 1,000%, including a 1,009.6% rally after the April 2017 cross and a 135% gain after the February 2021 cross. CoinDesk also noted that UNI, NEAR and ARB each surged by nearly 30% in 24 hours while bitcoin held near $78,000 after a week shaped by the Clarity Act setback and a Federal Reserve rate increase.

SBI Group joins dtcpay’s $25 million Series A as stablecoin payments firm expands

Singapore-licensed stablecoin payments company dtcpay has formally closed a $25 million Series A round, with Japan’s SBI Group joining as a strategic investor. The round was initially backed earlier this year by Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India, and later included SBI through SBI Ventures Asset and the SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund. Existing investors Genedant Capital and Kwee Liong Tek also stayed in the round. dtcpay provides digital-asset conversion, custody and a Visa-linked card that allows users to spend stablecoins in a way similar to cash. The company holds a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and says it has regulatory footprints across Europe, Hong Kong, Australia and North America. The company said the new capital will go toward building an enterprise portal, improving app features and expanding its merchant network. It did not disclose its valuation, revenue or how the proceeds will be allocated. Founder and CEO Alice Liu said the raise was aimed at changing how money moves across borders, not simply maintaining the business as it stands today. CoinDesk said SBI’s participation fits into its broader push across stablecoin banking and digital-asset infrastructure, including Coinhako, Ripple’s RLUSD distribution and Circle’s Arc network.

RWA Weekly: SEC clears tokenized stock exemption as on-chain holder count nears 4.5 million

Real-world asset markets eased slightly in the latest weekly window, but user growth kept accelerating. PANews said RWA on-chain market capitalization stood at $38.53 billion as of Sept. 18, down 0.75% from a month earlier, while the number of asset holders climbed to 4.436 million, up 85.84%. Stablecoins also stayed on an upward track, with total market capitalization reaching $303.35 billion and monthly transfer volume rising to $7.03 trillion. The week’s biggest regulatory development came from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which approved a temporary, conditional Innovation Exemption for tokenized National Market System stocks. The move allows limited trading on certain blockchain-based venues and gives the agency a way to collect market data before writing longer-term rules. Hong Kong, meanwhile, said it wants to support issuance and trading of gold and other suitable RWAs on licensed platforms, while the European Central Bank, the U.K., Thailand and India each advanced separate tokenization or digital currency initiatives. On the industry side, SWIFT launched a tokenized deposit cross-border payments pilot with 17 banks, Ondo’s broker-dealer unit joined DTCC’s Fund/SERV network, Aave prepared a dedicated RWA lending market on Avalanche, and Centrifuge rolled out a tokenized high-yield corporate bond fund with New York Life Investment Management. Funding activity also stayed focused on tokenization infrastructure and stablecoin settlement rails, with tZERO, Velocity, dtcpay and Fin.com all announcing fresh capital.
