WLD Rises 8% After Grayscale Files for a Worldcoin ETF in the U.S.

Worldcoin’s WLD token climbed about 8% over 24 hours after Grayscale filed an S-1 registration statement to launch the Grayscale Worldcoin ETF, a proposed passive fund that would hold WLD and track its price using the CoinDesk Worldcoin Benchmark Rate. The token reached an intraday high of $0.387 following the filing, although it was still down roughly 5.5% over the past seven days, according to CoinGecko. If approved, the product would list on Nasdaq under the ticker GWLD and use the exchange’s generic listing standards for commodity-based trusts. The filing names BitGo Bank & Trust as custodian and Bank of New York Mellon as transfer agent and administrator. Worldcoin, rebranded as World in 2024, was co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and centers on a biometric identity system built around iris scans collected through the Orb device. The project has faced regulatory scrutiny in the EU as well as in Brazil and Kenya over its biometric data collection practices. The filing adds to Grayscale’s broader push to expand its crypto ETF lineup.
