Barcelona were due to host Aston Villa at the Spotify Camp Nou on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Champions League league phase. Defensive absences had narrowed Hansi Flick's options before the match.
Injuries reduce choices at the back
GOAL, citing Mundo Deportivo, said Flick would face the match without all of his injured players. According to GOAL, Flick had not decided whether to start Baldé or instead use Fariñas on the right and João Cancelo on the left, with Cubarsí and Gerard Martín in central defence and Juan García in goal.
Few changes expected elsewhere
According to GOAL, few changes beyond the back line looked likely, with Pedri and Rodri in midfield, Fermín López ahead of them, Gordon on the left wing, Lamine Yamal on the right and Raphinha leading the line. According to GOAL, Barcelona had conceded in their last 17 consecutive matches in the competition.
Call-ups and training group
Flick had called up Álex Camps, Guille Víctor and Hamza. Training featured goalkeeper Iker Rodríguez alongside Aurian Gourin, who came in to replace Ibrima Tounkara.
Tounkara move and next fixture
Tounkara had dropped to the under-19 side for the Youth League after failing to meet UEFA's eligibility conditions for the reserve team. Barcelona were due to play away to Atlético Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday.
