Planet Football reported that Inter and AC Milan had unveiled plans for the new Generali Stadium to replace San Siro. The planned ground will accommodate 71,500 fans as part of a wider set of Serie A stadium projects in Italy.
Generali Stadium plan
Planet Football said the new stadium will be called the Generali because of a sponsorship deal with an Italian insurance firm. Planet Football said work on the Generali Stadium will start in 2028 if all goes well, and the stadium should be up and running for the 2031-32 season.
Planet Football said the design is partly inspired by Milan's Duomo Cathedral.
Roma and Lazio projects
Planet Football said Roma's plans for a new stadium in the Pietralata region of Rome, with a capacity of up to 62,000, got government approval in September. Planet Football said Roma hope to break ground in the spring of 2027 before finishing in 2029.
Planet Football said Lazio want to renovate the abandoned Stadio Flaminio nearby rather than build a completely new stadium.
Venezia's new home
Planet Football said Venezia will move to their new mainland home at the start of the 2027/28 season. Venezia's new stadium will seat 18,500 people, with the capacity able to increase for concerts and other events.
Venezia will invest €125m into the project and have signed a 40-year agreement with the city council to manage their new stadium.
Simone Venturini, Venetian mayor, said: "After decades of debates and words, the dream of a modern and functional stadium is finally something we can touch."
Venturini also said: "It will be the home of Venezia FC, but also a source of opportunities for the whole area."
Bologna and Cagliari plans
Planet Football said Bologna have launched plans for a new stadium and hope to construct a 35,000-seater venue in the city's exhibition centre by the spring of 2031.
Planet Football said plans call for a 30,000-seat venue that will become Cagliari's new home. Planet Football said the city council have approved Cagliari's plans for a venue with a capacity of up to 30,000, also revamping the surrounding area.
