Egypt national team head coach Hossam Hassan has been banned from appearing on any media outlet governed by Press and Media Regulation Law No. 180 of 2018, with immediate effect. The measure was announced by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.
Council ruling
In an official statement, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation said it had barred Hassan from appearing on any media outlet covered by Press and Media Regulation Law No. 180 of 2018. The council also stressed that respect for citizens' private lives must come first.
Other steps in the statement
The council said it had also summoned the legal representatives of several websites to hearing sessions for breaching the rules that protect and respect citizens' private lives. It warned of strict legal measures if those rules are broken again or if news tied to the matters raised in the statement is published and circulated again.
Background cited by GOAL
GOAL said the decision followed weeks of controversy surrounding Hassan. GOAL said the disputes between Hassan and his ex-wife, Dan Adam, mutual accusations between them, and extensive media coverage of their private lives were at the heart of the controversy.
Further warning
The council cautioned against any repeat publication or circulation of material relating to the matters in question and said it would take strict legal action if the ruling is violated or the rules governing media work are overstepped.
