Planet Football previewed Manchester United's Champions League home game against Roma on Tuesday, with the focus on Roma's form and team news. United had lost 3-0 to Bournemouth and then suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, with two games remaining until the international break.
Roma's start to the season
Roma have won seven and drawn three of their first 10 games of the season in Serie A, scoring 28 goals in that run. They had only 10 goals from their first 10 games last season. Roma have also had 14 different scorers so far across Serie A and Champions League matches, while they have conceded only 10 goals in the league.
Malen and attacking options
Donyell Malen joined Roma from Aston Villa in January. He finished last season with 15 goals for Roma and already has 11 this season. Emanuele Lulli had never played for Roma's senior team before this summer and has scored twice in Serie A. Rodrigo Mora is a teenage attacking midfielder and a big investment for Roma in the summer. Niccolo Pisilli is a product of Roma's academy.
Team news before United game
The Roma side that lines up against United will likely be deprived of chief creative talent Paulo Dybala, midfield engine of United fancy Manu Kone, dominant starting goalkeeper Mile Svilar and former captain Lorenzo Pellegrini. With Svilar out, Roma are having to turn to Pierluigi Gollini in goal. Gollini is a former United academy player.
Champions League setback
Roma were 3-1 up with 10 minutes to go against Real Madrid in the Champions League before conceding three goals from corners.
