Manchester United's Champions League fourth-round match against Roma at Old Trafford featured a fan protest as supporters threw tennis balls onto the pitch. United then recovered from two goals down to beat Roma 3-2.
Protest during the match
The protest was aimed at the club's management and owners amid a sharp slump in results. Manchester United went into the Roma game without a win in their last nine matches across all competitions.
According to Sky Sports, in the 21st minute tennis balls rained down from the Stretford End, forcing a brief stoppage before the players cleared them away and play resumed.
Plans and demonstrations
Fans had planned the protest in advance and announced it on social media. Further demonstrations took place around the ground, fuelled by anger at the management over the slide in results and rising ticket prices.
How the game unfolded
Manchester United fell two goals behind inside the first 17 minutes against Roma. Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty spot in the 58th minute.
Matheus Cunha equalised in the 83rd minute and scored again in the 86th minute.
