Villarreal host Paris Saint-Germain at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday in their fourth UEFA Champions League fixture. Ahead of the match, Villarreal head coach Inigo Perez urged his players not to show fear.
Perez sets out his message
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Perez said: "Against this type of team is when you have to abandon fear, you have to abandon complexes and reaffirm yourself. Try to show that you also have the level, because if they smell fear they won't forgive you."
The coach also said: "Regardless of the stadium, the opponent or the context, they're a steamroller. That's exactly what we expect. We know all about their strengths."
Perez said he expects an open encounter and believes Paris Saint-Germain's aggressive approach will create attacking space unlike Villarreal's recent domestic opponents.
Gueye on the challenge
Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye said: "The truth is that it is complicated because they are very fast, they have the ability to play together."
He also said: "For us it is also a dream since we were young to play in the Champions League. We want to give everything and we want to win tomorrow."
