Lionel Scaloni announced Argentina's squad for November friendlies with Uruguay and Costa Rica, with two first call-ups and several absences.

Lionel Scaloni has named Argentina's first squad since Lionel Messi retired from international football on 31 August. The squad is for November home friendlies against Uruguay and Costa Rica.

First call-ups and a return

Aaron Anselmino and Mariano Troilo received their first call-ups. Gonzalo Montiel returned to the squad.

Players left out

Rodrigo De Paul and Giovani Lo Celso were left out of the squad. Cristian Romero, Lautaro Martinez and Nicolas Gonzalez were not included because of injuries at their clubs.

Martinez and suspended absentees

Emiliano Martinez was kept in the squad despite a fractured jaw. Martinez will undergo a medical assessment to determine his situation, with no risk to be taken over playing him unless necessary.

Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina remain absent through sanctions imposed following events in the 2026 World Cup final against Spain. Paredes has served three of his 10-match ban, and Molina three of his seven.

November fixtures

Argentina play Uruguay on 13 November at La Bombonera. Argentina also play Costa Rica at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium in Cordoba.

Messi officially announced his international retirement on 31 August and took part in a farewell match against Benin on 6 October.
