Sunderland are set to keep manager Regis le Bris despite a poor start to the Premier League season, according to club sources and PA. The club are bottom after one win from their first nine league matches, with Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Coventry leaving them at the foot of the table.
League results
The loss at Coventry on Saturday extended Sunderland's winless league run to seven games. They have collected one point from five away league matches.
Backing for le Bris
BBC Sport reported that club sources believe le Bris can bring about an improvement in results. PA reported on Monday that le Bris retains the full support of Sunderland's board and remains central to their plans.
Le Bris at Sunderland
Le Bris joined Sunderland from Lorient in 2024. He oversaw Sunderland's promotion back to the Premier League after an eight-year absence, then guided the club to a seventh-placed finish to secure a spot in the Europa League. It was the first time Sunderland had qualified for European competition in 53 years.
Upcoming matches and Europa League form
Sunderland face Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League at the Stadium of Light on Thursday and host Chelsea in the league at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. Sunderland have made an unbeaten start to their Europa League campaign, winning two and drawing one of their league phase matches so far. Those results include wins against AZ Alkmaar and Torreense and a draw against Lech Poznan in Poland.
