Alibaba has launched a redesigned version of Qoder, shifting the product from a developer-focused tool toward a broader AI agent workspace for general users. Instead of starting from code, users can describe a goal and let Qoder plan, call tools, and carry out tasks such as prototype creation, data processing, and file organization. The product now comes with two modes: a programming mode that remains centered on coding and development work, and a general mode aimed at a wider audience.
The move follows Alibaba’s August 12 renaming of the original Qoder desktop app to Qoder IDE. It has now reused the Qoder name for the broader workspace product. Under the hood, the new release continues to rely on Coding Agent capabilities built over the past year. Qoder includes models such as Qwen3.8-Max, supports automatic model selection, and connects to more than 40 connectors, more than 70 plugins, and over 20,000 skills. It also adds features including Plan for drafting task schemes, Goal for ongoing goal-based execution, side tasks for parallel work, real-time voice, meeting-note recording, and a desktop pet. During the launch period, individual users can claim 500 Qwen-only credits per day for five consecutive days, up to 2,500 in total, while enterprise users get a 50% discount when calling Qwen series models in the new Qoder.

Plan can draft a scheme first, Goal can keep executing around a target, and side tasks can process branch issues at the same time. Real-time voice, recording notes, and a desktop pet have also been added.
Launch incentives for individual and enterprise users
During the launch period, individual users can claim 500 Qwen-exclusive credits per day for five straight days, for a maximum of 2,500. Enterprise users calling Qwen series models in the new Qoder receive a 50% discount.
