Ancora1919, an Italian luxury pen manufacturer with roots dating back to the early 20th century, has unveiled a limited-edition Ethereum pen collection while continuing sales of its previously announced Bitcoin-themed pens. The move places the company at the intersection of traditional luxury craftsmanship and cryptocurrency culture, turning digital asset branding into a niche collectible product line.
Ethereum Pens Released in Strictly Limited Quantities
According to the company’s announcement, the Ethereum series will be capped at 888 rollerball pens and 88 fountain pens. Ancora1919 emphasized the fixed scarcity of the collection on its website, noting that unlike Ethereum itself, the total supply of Ethereum Pens will remain permanently capped. The fountain pen nib will be made from 18K gold, underscoring the premium positioning of the release.
The sales structure mirrors a staged launch model inspired by token sales. During the pre-production stage, running from April 8 to May 8, buyers can purchase the pens at a 50% discount relative to retail pricing. In that phase, the rollerball pen is priced at $1,000, while the fountain pen is offered at $1,250.
Ancora1919 then moves into a production stage from May 12 to May 27. At that point, the rollerball rises to $1,250, and the fountain pen increases to $1,500. Beginning July 1, the collection enters full retail distribution, with final prices set at $2,250 for the rollerball and $2,500 for the fountain pen.
Premium Numbered Versions Priced in Crypto
In addition to the standard release, the company said it will offer a limited number of pens incorporating extra precious metals, sold in exchange for cryptocurrency. These higher-tier “number” editions are split into three categories: Platinum, Gold, and Silver.
The Platinum edition is priced at 15 ETH, the Gold edition at 10 ETH, and the Silver edition at 5 ETH. Using the approximate valuations cited in the original announcement, those prices correspond to about $6,960, $4,640, and $2,320, respectively. By pricing these special versions directly in cryptocurrency, Ancora1919 reinforces the thematic link between the product and the digital asset community it is targeting.
Bitcoin Pens Were Introduced Earlier
The Ethereum collection follows Ancora1919’s earlier Bitcoin pen launch. The company previously conducted the pre-production stage for its Bitcoin Pens in December 2017, initially offering buyers a 60% discount. That earlier release established the same broad formula now being used for Ethereum-branded products: limited availability, premium materials, staged pricing, and a marketing narrative aligned with crypto investors and collectors.
Ancora1919 said the Bitcoin Pen line is scheduled to enter its retail phase at the start of June. At retail, the rollerball version will sell for $2,250, while the fountain pen will be priced at $2,500, matching the final retail pricing of the Ethereum series.
As with the Ethereum collection, the Bitcoin Pens also include premium numbered variants. These are priced at 1 BTC for Platinum, 0.5 BTC for Gold, and 0.25 BTC for Silver. Based on the approximate reference values included in the report, those amounts equal around $7,700, $3,850, and $1,925.
Luxury Brands Experiment With Crypto-Themed Products
Ancora1919’s strategy reflects an effort to capitalize on cryptocurrency’s growing cultural visibility by translating well-known digital assets into physical luxury collectibles. Rather than launching a blockchain product or accepting crypto merely as a payment option, the company is using Bitcoin and Ethereum themselves as the core design and branding concept.
The approach is notable because it adapts crypto-style mechanics, such as scarcity messaging and staged sale periods, to a traditional luxury goods market. The company’s website even draws a contrast between the open-ended issuance of Ethereum and the permanently capped supply of the Ethereum pen series, turning tokenomics language into part of its product marketing.
That framing may appeal to collectors who value limited-edition goods and to crypto enthusiasts interested in memorabilia tied to major blockchain networks. It also shows how cryptocurrency branding, even outside financial services or digital infrastructure, can influence consumer products in unexpected sectors.
More “Currency Pens” Are Planned
Ancora1919 indicated that it will announce a new “currency pens series” on June 1, suggesting that Bitcoin and Ethereum may be only the beginning of a broader lineup. While the company has not detailed which currencies could appear next, the statement signals an intention to keep expanding the concept.
For now, the firm’s Bitcoin and Ethereum editions stand as an example of how legacy manufacturers can respond to digital trends without changing the nature of their core business. In this case, a historic Italian pen maker is not building on-chain tools or launching tokens. Instead, it is repackaging crypto symbolism into a high-end collectible format aimed at buyers who appreciate both scarcity and status.
Whether the audience is made up of serious pen collectors, cryptocurrency investors, or buyers drawn by the novelty factor, Ancora1919’s launch shows that the influence of Bitcoin and Ethereum has extended far beyond exchanges and wallets. It has reached even the world of luxury writing instruments.
