Italian luxury pen manufacturer Ancora1919 has announced a new limited-edition Ethereum-themed pen collection, extending its crypto-inspired product strategy after previously offering Bitcoin pens. The company, which has been producing high-end writing instruments since the early 20th century, is positioning the launch as a blend of collectible luxury goods and cryptocurrency branding.
Ethereum Pens to Be Released in Limited Numbers
According to the company’s announcement, the Ethereum series will be capped at 888 rollerball pens and 88 fountain pens. Ancora1919 said the products will be sold through a staged model that mirrors a token sale structure, with lower prices offered during early access and progressively higher prices as the launch moves toward retail availability.
During the pre-production stage, running from April 8 to May 8, buyers will be able to purchase the rollerball version for $1,000 and the fountain pen for $1,250. In the subsequent production stage, from May 12 to May 27, prices rise to $1,250 for the rollerball and $1,500 for the fountain pen. From July 1 onward, the pens enter the retail phase, where final prices are set at $2,250 and $2,500, respectively.
Premium Versions Priced in Cryptocurrency
In addition to the standard Ethereum editions, Ancora1919 is also offering a small number of enhanced models incorporating additional precious metals. These premium variants are priced directly in cryptocurrency. The company said its Platinum numbers will cost 15 ETH each, or about $6,960 based on the price reference cited in the source material. The Gold version is priced at 10 ETH, approximately $4,640, while the Silver version will cost 5 ETH, or about $2,320.
Ancora1919 also noted that the nib of the Ethereum fountain pen will be made from 18K gold, reinforcing the luxury positioning of the collection. On its website, the company used crypto-native language to market the line, stating that unlike Ethereum itself, the supply of Ethereum Pens would remain permanently capped.
Following an Earlier Bitcoin Pen Release
The Ethereum launch follows Ancora1919’s earlier attempt to capitalize on cryptocurrency enthusiasm through a Bitcoin-themed pen series. The company conducted the pre-production phase of its Bitcoin pen sale in December 2017, initially offering a 60% discount on the products.
Ancora1919 said the Bitcoin pens would enter the retail phase at the beginning of June, with rollerball pens priced at $2,250 and fountain pens at $2,500. The Bitcoin collection also includes Platinum, Gold, and Silver “numbers,” priced at 1 BTC, 0.5 BTC, and 0.25 BTC, respectively. Based on the estimates provided in the source, those prices correspond to roughly $7,700, $3,850, and $1,925.
Luxury Goods Meet Crypto Culture
The release highlights how companies outside the core blockchain sector sought to align themselves with the cryptocurrency boom by embedding digital asset themes into physical consumer products. Rather than launching a token or a blockchain service, Ancora1919 has used recognizable crypto brands such as Bitcoin and Ethereum to create scarcity-driven collectibles aimed at enthusiasts, speculators, and luxury buyers.
The company’s sales structure is particularly notable because it borrows the language and sequencing of token offerings: an early discounted stage, a later production window with higher pricing, and a final retail stage at a substantial markup. This approach appears designed to appeal to a crypto-aware audience accustomed to concepts such as early access, limited supply, and tiered pricing.
At the same time, the products remain firmly positioned within the traditional luxury segment. Materials such as 18K gold, along with the use of precious-metal variants and tightly capped issuance, underline that these are intended as premium collectibles rather than mass-market merchandise. By pairing those luxury cues with cryptocurrency branding, Ancora1919 is attempting to occupy a niche where status goods and digital asset culture intersect.
More Currency-Themed Pens Planned
Ancora1919 indicated that it is not stopping with Bitcoin and Ethereum. The company said it would announce new currency pen series on June 1, suggesting a broader product roadmap based on financial or crypto-related themes. While no additional details were provided in the source material, the statement points to continued experimentation with collectible writing instruments tied to market narratives and investor communities.
Overall, the Ethereum pen launch reflects an unusual but clear example of how the cryptocurrency phenomenon spilled beyond exchanges, mining, and software into high-end consumer branding. For Ancora1919, the strategy appears to be straightforward: combine scarcity, precious materials, and strong crypto symbolism to attract attention in both the luxury goods market and the digital asset world.
