Italian luxury pen manufacturer Ancora1919 has unveiled a limited-edition line of Ethereum-themed pens, expanding its crypto-inspired product range after previously offering Bitcoin-branded models. The company, which has been producing high-end writing instruments since the early 20th century, is positioning the new collection as a scarce, premium product aimed at both collectors and cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
Ethereum Pen Series to Be Released in Limited Quantities
According to the announcement, the Ethereum series will be capped at 888 rollerball pens and 88 fountain pens. Ancora1919 emphasized scarcity as a core part of the collection’s appeal, even noting on its website that, unlike Ethereum itself, the supply of Ethereum Pens will remain permanently fixed. The fountain pen nibs will be made of 18K gold, reinforcing the luxury positioning of the product line.
The sales structure mirrors the staged pricing often seen in token offerings. During the pre-production stage, running from April 8 to May 8, customers can place orders at discounted rates. In this phase, the rollerball pen is priced at $1,000, while the fountain pen costs $1,250. Ancora1919 says this represents a substantial discount compared with final retail pricing.
Prices Rise Through Production and Retail Phases
After the pre-production period ends, the collection moves into a production stage from May 12 to May 27. During this window, the Ethereum rollerball pen will be offered at $1,250, while the fountain pen will be available for $1,500. The final retail phase begins on July 1, when the prices rise sharply to $2,250 for the rollerball and $2,500 for the fountain pen.
This step-up pricing model appears designed to reward early buyers while reinforcing the exclusivity of the collection. By combining limited supply with time-based pricing increases, Ancora1919 is effectively borrowing mechanics familiar to crypto investors and applying them to a physical luxury good.
Special Precious-Metal Versions Priced in Crypto
In addition to the standard release, Ancora1919 will offer a small number of enhanced editions that incorporate extra precious metals and are priced directly in cryptocurrency. The company said its “Platinum numbers” will cost 15 ETH each, while Gold versions will be priced at 10 ETH and Silver editions at 5 ETH. At the prices referenced in the original announcement, these tiers were valued at approximately $6,960, $4,640, and $2,320, respectively.
These crypto-denominated premium versions add another layer to the product strategy, blending luxury manufacturing with digital asset branding. Rather than simply naming a pen after a cryptocurrency, Ancora1919 is tying product identity, payment options, and scarcity marketing together in one package.
Bitcoin Pens Arrived First
The Ethereum release follows Ancora1919’s earlier move into crypto-themed merchandise with its Bitcoin Pen collection. The company conducted the pre-production stage of the Bitcoin sale in December 2017, initially offering buyers a 60% discount. That earlier collection is scheduled to enter its retail phase at the start of June, with the same final pricing structure used for the Ethereum series: $2,250 for rollerballs and $2,500 for fountain pens.
Ancora1919 also structured premium Bitcoin versions around cryptocurrency pricing. The company listed Platinum, Gold, and Silver “numbers” at 1 BTC, 0.5 BTC, and 0.25 BTC, respectively. Based on the valuations cited in the original report, those tiers were approximately worth $7,700, $3,850, and $1,925 at the time.
Luxury Brands Experiment With Crypto Culture
Ancora1919’s strategy reflects a broader attempt by niche and premium brands to connect with the cultural momentum of cryptocurrency. By launching Bitcoin and Ethereum-themed writing instruments, the company is not entering blockchain infrastructure or digital finance directly. Instead, it is monetizing the symbolism and community identity attached to major crypto assets.
The approach is notable because it brings together several ideas that resonated strongly during the cryptocurrency boom: scarcity, themed ownership, community affiliation, and early-buyer incentives. In this case, those concepts are being repackaged through a legacy Italian luxury manufacturer known for traditional craftsmanship rather than digital products.
Ancora1919 has also said it will announce “new currency pens series” on June 1, suggesting that Bitcoin and Ethereum may be only the first entries in a broader lineup of cryptocurrency-inspired collectibles. If that plan moves forward, the company could continue building a niche where luxury stationery intersects with crypto branding and collector demand.
For now, the Ethereum pen launch stands as an unusual example of how crypto themes can extend far beyond exchanges, wallets, or mining hardware. In Ancora1919’s case, blockchain culture is being translated into a premium physical collectible, with limited production, gold components, and a sales structure modeled after the fundraising tactics familiar to digital asset markets.
