Base Build said on July 28 that it has launched Base Verify Onchain, a tool designed to address Sybil attacks in blockchain ecosystems.
The feature is now live on the Base Sepolia testnet. It allows developers to enforce a “one real user, one claim” rule inside smart contracts. Base Build said traditional airdrop mechanisms are easily manipulated by batches of wallets, with a large share of rewards often captured by professional airdrop farmers while users who actually contributed to building products receive only limited benefits.
Identity hash used to detect multiple wallets
Base Verify Onchain generates a stable identity hash for each real user. That lets projects identify multiple wallets controlled by the same person without requiring access to private information such as a user’s name or account details.
Users can complete verification through existing accounts including Coinbase, Instagram, X and TikTok. The system then returns a verified identity credential to the smart contract, allowing the contract to automatically enforce rules such as claim restrictions, voting limits or allocation controls.
Already used more than 300,000 times
Base Build said Base Verify has been used more than 300,000 times so far and is serving partner projects including Base App, Cody, Scratch and Bracket.
According to Base Build, Verify Onchain is intended to support fairer airdrops, token distributions, governance voting and user incentive systems for decentralized applications. Developers can use the technology to limit how many times a single real user can claim rewards, allocate rewards based on verified identity, or convert real-world signals into onchain reputation. The stated goal is to reduce the impact of bots and multi-wallet behavior on fairness in Web3 applications.
