Berachain Foundation said its stablecoin HONEY has been rebranded as Bera USD, with the ticker changed to BUSD. The foundation said the contract address and the token itself remain unchanged, and that only the name and symbol are being updated. According to the announcement, the rebrand is meant to make the asset immediately recognizable as a U.S. dollar stablecoin, especially for more institutionally oriented users. Berachain also noted a technical consequence tied to the change: because the token name is part of the EIP-712 domain separator design, any permit signatures or off-chain approvals previously signed under the HONEY name will automatically become invalid and must be signed again. The project added that BUSD-related updates will be rolled out across integrations soon, with more changes to the stablecoin planned afterward.
Berachain Foundation has rebranded its stablecoin HONEY as Bera USD, changing the ticker to BUSD.
The foundation said the contract address and the token itself will stay the same. The change only affects the asset’s name and symbol. Berachain said the move is intended to make the token easier to identify as a U.S. dollar stablecoin, especially for more institutionally oriented users.
Existing permits and off-chain approvals must be signed again
Berachain said the rename carries a technical effect because the token name is used in the EIP-712 domain separator design. As a result, permits or off-chain approvals that were previously signed under the HONEY name will automatically become invalid and will need to be signed again.
The project added that BUSD-related interface and integration updates will be rolled out across partners soon. It also said more updates for the stablecoin are planned.
