Binance has expanded its traditional asset offerings by listing options tied to over 1,000 US stocks and ETFs. Available only to non-US users, these traditional securities options are physically settled through Binance's Abu Dhabi entity in partnership with Alpaca Securities. The move comes as Binance's TradFi perpetual trading volume surged to $433.4 billion in August, a 15x increase from January.

Binance is deepening its push into traditional assets. According to The Block on September 1, the exchange has listed options linked to over 1,000 US stocks and ETFs, available only to users outside the United States.

Traditional Securities Options, Physically Settled

These options are traditional securities options, not tokenized stocks or crypto perpetuals. The contracts are offered through Binance's Abu Dhabi entity, Nest Trading Limited, in partnership with US-licensed broker Alpaca Securities. They follow US stock trading hours and are physically settled in the underlying shares, rather than settled as blockchain tokens. Initially, only long positions are allowed: users can buy calls and puts, but cannot sell options or establish naked short positions.

Traditional Asset Perpetuals Surge

The listing reflects Binance's rapid expansion in traditional asset derivatives. Citing data from The Block, Binance's TradFi perpetual trading volume reached approximately $433.4 billion in August, up about 15 times from $29.5 billion in January. Equity-linked perpetuals accounted for roughly 79% of that, with about $342.9 billion in volume, a more than 800-fold increase from around $410 million in January.

From tokenized securities and perpetuals to now options, Binance is progressively bringing traditional asset trading onto its crypto platform.
