Bitcoin ETFs Record $3.5B Inflows in August, Highest Since July 2025
U.S.-listed bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) saw net inflows of approximately $3.5 billion in August, the largest monthly intake since July 2025, according to Bloomberg data cited by PANews. Bitcoin gained 25% in the month, its best performance since November 2024.
Catalysts Behind the Rally
The chief investment officer of Bitwise noted that investors had been waiting for a reason to buy crypto assets in recent months. Despite price declines, fundamentals remained strong, and the measures by U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent served as a catalyst. Bessent announced increased long-term Treasury bond repurchases to lower yields, while former President Trump met with crypto executives and urged the Senate to pass market structure legislation, together igniting the current rally.
The founder of Pantera Capital said that as the U.S. government continues to print money and devalue the dollar, hard assets like bitcoin will perform well. Citigroup strategists pointed out that bitcoin's rebound to near the ETF investors' weighted average entry price (around $80,000-$83,000) is a key driver of flows.
$80,000 Level Proves Key Resistance
However, bitcoin faced resistance at $80,000 and fell to $76,393 on Tuesday. An analyst at StoneX said that concerns about U.S. fiscal conditions have driven demand for alternative assets like bitcoin and precious metals. If the sustained buying into bitcoin ETFs continues, it could mark a significant turning point after a prolonged downturn.
