Milestone: Over 1,000 Daily Payouts
Bitcoin mining pool Braiins has achieved a significant milestone by processing more than 1,000 daily payouts on the Lightning Network. This achievement validates the ability of Lightning to support instant, low-cost transactions at scale for the mining sector. Since first introducing Lightning payouts in February 2024 through a partnership with payment platform Voltage, Braiins has seen consistent double-digit month-over-month growth in Lightning transactions. Miners now have immediate access to their earnings, bypassing the slower and more expensive on-chain settlement process.
How Lightning Changes Miner Payments
Traditionally, miners had to wait for on-chain confirmations to receive their block rewards, which could be time-consuming and subject to fluctuating fees. Lightning Network, as a second-layer scaling solution for Bitcoin, enables instant transfers through payment channels with near-zero fees. Braiins was among the first mining pools to adopt this technology for payouts, allowing miners to receive funds daily without friction. CEO Eli Nagar stated, 'Lightning payouts have completely changed the way miners receive their earnings. Rather than waiting for on-chain transactions, our miners are now getting instant, frictionless payouts every single day.' He added that from mid-2024 into early 2025, Lightning payout volumes grew by an average of nearly 20% month-over-month.
Sustained Growth and Industry Outlook
The ease and efficiency of instant payouts have been enthusiastically received, especially by small and medium-sized mining operators who need quicker access to working capital. By optimizing its systems, Braiins reached over 1,000 daily payouts, reinforcing its position as an innovator in mining technologies. Voltage CEO Graham Krizek commented, 'This milestone demonstrates how Lightning enables real-world, high-volume transactions at an unprecedented scale.' As more mining pools adopt Lightning for payouts, the broader Bitcoin ecosystem stands to benefit from reduced on-chain congestion, lower transaction fees, and faster settlement times. The accelerating adoption of Lightning points to a future where financial infrastructure for Bitcoin miners is more seamless, efficient, and globally accessible.
