Brazil’s securities regulator, the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), is moving ahead with a distributed ledger technology pilot focused on tokenized securities, according to Ledger Insights. The program is limited to simulated trading and will not involve real securities or actual investors. It is being coordinated by the CVM’s tokenization working group, known as GTT. The test period is set to run for 60 days, with an option to extend it by another 30 days. The draft proposal has not yet received board approval. Its scope covers a large part of the securities lifecycle, including issuance through settlement, and includes asset classes such as stocks, bonds, receivables certificates, and investment fund shares.
